Hello, I'm Roxanne
I believe every ceremony
should feel like coming home to yourself – warm, authentic, and true.
After spending years supporting people through some of life's most challenging moments, I've learned that what people need most is to feel seen, heard, and held with compassion. That's exactly what I bring to celebrancy.
My journey to celebrancy
I was born in Guyana, South America, and came to the UK 30 years ago as a single mum with my young son. We built our life here together – through university (whilst he was at university too), through career changes, through all the twists and turns that make up a life.
For 20 years, I worked in the public sector. The first decade was in mental health service development, where I learned the profound importance of really listening to people and creating space for them to be themselves. The second decade in data protection regulation, helping small businesses navigate complex requirements – different work, but still fundamentally about supporting people to realise and uphold what matters to them most.
Throughout all of this, I kept coming back to one thought: I want to do something that brings more joy, more light, more celebration into people's lives.
Celebrancy kept appearing on my radar. I'd attend a friend's wedding with a celebrant and think, "Yes, that's it." I'd research training courses, get excited, then talk myself out of it. This went on for many years.
Then something happened that changed everything.
What I bring to your ceremony
-
A naturally compassionate approach
My background in supporting people, whether it be in helping to develop better mental health services or helping small businesses to navigate complex legislation taught me how to hold space for people during significant moments. I'm attuned to what you need – whether that's a gentle guiding hand, creative collaboration, or simply someone who truly listens.
-
A gift for storytelling
I believe every couple has a unique story worth celebrating. My role is to listen carefully, ask the right questions, and weave your experiences, values, and quirks into a ceremony that feels unmistakably you.
-
Cultural awareness and celebration
As an Afro-Caribbean woman who's built a life across continents, I understand what it means to bridge cultures. I love working with couples who want to honour their individual heritages whilst creating something new together. Whether you're blending traditions or forging your own path, I'll help you do it with authenticity and respect.
-
Professional yet personal
You'll get the benefit of my decades of professional experience – I'm organised, reliable, and excellent at managing the moving parts of your day. But you'll also get the real me: warm, grounded, and genuinely invested in creating something special for you.
What I value most
-
Being joyful
Life is precious. Love is worth celebrating. I bring a natural warmth and positivity to everything I do, because your ceremony should feel like a celebration of all that's good in your life.
-
Inclusivity
Everyone deserves a celebration that honours who they are. I'm committed to creating ceremonies that welcome people of all cultures, orientations, identities, and backgrounds.
-
Authenticity
Your ceremony should reflect your real story – not a sanitised, generic version. I create a safe, judgment-free space where you can be yourselves.
-
Thoughtfulness
I don't rush the process. I take the time to understand what matters to you, to craft language that resonates, and to include meaningful details that make your ceremony personal.
Beyond ceremonies
When I'm not officiating or writing ceremonies, you'll find me engaged with learning new skills like recently qualifying as an Agile project manager or with my partner enjoying the outdoors. We love exploring the beautiful Cheshire countryside and majestic Welsh landscape, enjoying the brilliant cultural diversity of North West England, or engaging in activities that require a little discipline, like field archery and gym routines.
I'm a lover of good conversation, meaningful connections, and anything that brings people together. I believe in treating everyone with kindness and respect, and in finding joy in everyday moments.
