About celebrant ceremonies

What is a celebrant?

A celebrant is someone who creates and conducts personalised ceremonies for life's important moments. Unlike registrars (who are restricted by legal requirements and standard scripts), celebrants have complete freedom to create bespoke ceremonies that truly reflect you.

Are celebrant ceremonies legal in the UK?

About working with me

What areas do you cover?

I'm based in Knutsford, Cheshire, and regularly cover all of Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, and Shropshire. I'm also happy to travel further across the UK or internationally for the right celebration. Travel within 20 miles of Knutsford is included in my fee; additional mileage is charged at 45p per mile.

The ceremony itself

How long are ceremonies?

Most wedding ceremonies are 20-30 minutes, though we can make yours shorter or longer depending on what you'd like to include. I'll never pad out your ceremony unnecessarily – we'll find the right length for you.

Can we include our own readings or music?
What are symbolic rituals?
Can we write our own vows?
Do we need to do a rehearsal?

Multicultural and diverse ceremonies

Do you have experience with multicultural weddings?

Yes, this is something I'm particularly passionate about. As an Afro-Caribbean woman who's lived in the UK for 30 years, I understand both the beauty and complexity of blending cultures. I've researched and incorporated elements from Caribbean, African, Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Asian, and other traditions. I approach every culture with respect and care.

The practical stuff

When do we need to do the legal signing?

You can do it either before or after your celebrant ceremony. Some couples prefer to get it done a few days before so they can fully relax on their wedding day. Others do it the day after. It's entirely your choice.

What if you're ill on our wedding day?
