A farewell that honours their story
When someone you
love dies, the funeral ceremony is one of the most important ways you say goodbye. It's where you celebrate who they were, acknowledge what they meant, and begin to process your grief surrounded by others who loved them too.
A funeral should tell their story – not a generic version, but the real person with all their quirks, passions, relationships, and the unique mark they left on the world.
I create funeral and celebration of life ceremonies that truly honour the person who's died, bringing comfort to those left behind whilst celebrating a life well-lived.
Who this is for
You might be planning ahead for yourself, or you might be arranging a funeral for someone you've lost. Either way, you want something meaningful – not a conveyor-belt service where the celebrant barely knew the person's name. This service is for families who want:
- A ceremony that reflects the real person, not a sanitised version
- Time and space to share memories and stories
- Inclusion of cultural or spiritual traditions that mattered to them
- A celebrant who'll listen with compassion and respect
- The freedom to celebrate in a way that feels right
- Support through the planning process from someone who genuinely cares
Whether you're planning a traditional funeral, a vibrant celebration of life, a woodland burial, or something entirely unique – I'm here to help you create it.

The types of ceremonies I create
-
Traditional funerals
Respectful, dignified ceremonies at crematoria or burial grounds, honouring traditional structures whilst making them personal.
-
Celebration of life ceremonies
Focusing on joy, stories, and celebrating the life lived rather than dwelling on loss. These can include laughter, music, colour, and warmth.
-
Woodland and natural burials
Beautiful outdoor ceremonies in natural burial grounds, celebrating the person's love of nature and their return to the earth.
-
Culturally specific ceremonies
As an Afro-Caribbean woman, I have personal understanding of Caribbean funeral traditions. I'm also experienced in researching and respectfully incorporating traditions from other cultures.
-
Direct cremation memorials
If the family has chosen direct cremation, we can create a separate memorial ceremony at a time and place that suits you.
-
Non-religious and humanist-style ceremonies
For those who weren't religious, I create meaningful ceremonies that celebrate life and love without spiritual elements.
-
Spiritual but not religious ceremonies
Incorporating elements of spirituality, nature, or philosophy that reflect the person's beliefs without formal religious structure.
Why choose me as your celebrant
-
I understand grief from personal experience
My journey to celebrancy began when a friend was preparing for the end of her life. Watching her work with a celebrant, and attending her funeral, showed me the profound impact this work can have. I approach every funeral with that same reverence and care.
-
I have a background in supporting people through difficult times
I spent ten years working in mental health services, where I learned how to hold space for people experiencing pain, how to listen deeply, and how to provide support with compassion and respect.
-
I bring cultural sensitivity
As an Afro-Caribbean woman with an awareness of the diverse perspectives on death and mourning, whether viewed as an end or a transition - I understand the importance of cultural traditions as you honour and bid farewell to your loved one. I can help you incorporate traditions that honour your heritage.
-
I take time to really understand the person
I won't rush the tribute-gathering process. I'll listen to all the stories – the funny ones, the difficult ones, the moments that made this person who they were.
-
I write eulogies that feel authentic
During my training, my mentor praised my ability to capture the essence of a person and create ceremonies that feel genuine and heartfelt. I bring that same care to every funeral.
-
I'll guide you with kindness
Planning a funeral can feel overwhelming. I'll walk you through every step, answer all your questions, and help you make decisions without adding to your stress.
